Australian Multilingual Services extend our whole-hearted congratulations to the Australian Olympic team as they demonstrate their athletic prowess at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The joy Ariarne Titmus’ coach Dean Boxall displayed at seeing Ariarne Titmus win the Gold medal, after all the pain and hard work that got her to that achievement was contagious to watch!

Earlier this month, just as the Australian athletes were about to travel to Tokyo, the Japanese translation team at Australian Multilingual Services were honored to be tasked with the translation of Australian Competitor Profiles for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

This project involved translation of athletes’ names and olympic history record data.  Our translators went beyond the scope of the project and also checked the existing Tokyo Olympics Organisation’s translations for these athletes to make sure that the transliteration of names was consistent with those already on record in Tokyo. To explain, a name, as spelled in English, needs to be interpreted into Japanese phonetic characters, and there are multiple ways to translate any one name into Japanese, for this reason.

Needless to say, the translations were completed within a short turnaround and this project was highly time-sensitive. It was a pleasure for our team to undertake these translations and be able to contribute in a small way to supporting the Australian team’s presence in Tokyo.

It is now a huge joy to know that the 2032 Olympics will be hosted in Brisbane, where we have an office in the CBD and will be on hand to provide comprehensive translation and interpreting services for this prestigious event.

Goodness knows, we all need some positive news to break the persistent gloom of the current Coronavirus-19 crisis unfolding across the country, at a time when many of us had secretly hoped that we were on the other side of the pandemic, and would see a return to a more normal business life as the new financial year dawned.

Our team continue to support our clients in overcoming these challenges, with video interpreting services delivered across a multitude of platforms and for a diverse range of applications, ranging from specialist medical consultations to boardroom meetings and international events and virtual conferences.
