Telephone & Video Conference Interpreters
Remote Interpreting Services
Australian Multilingual Services provides remote, NAATI certified and specialist interpreter services, through telephone and video streaming technology.
Simultaneous (real-time) and consecutive interpreting services are both available through remote access, for over 200 languages.
Speak to us about your requirements and the perfect interpreter will be selected, looking at factors such as dialect, accreditation and specialist subject expertise, and also the logistic details of your event.
NAATI accredited interpreters are available for legal assignments and a range of additional contexts in Australia for which this type of accreditation is essential. NAATI is shorthand for the National Accreditation Agency for Translators and Interpreters, the Australian regulation authority for linguists.
For events that require interpreters to possess in depth subject expertise, video and telephone interpreting are offered through our national and international panels of specialist interpreters who possess professional expertise in a wide variety of industries. This service provides an excellent remote interpreting solution for even the most demanding material, across a wide range of business sectors. It is extremely popular for boardroom meetings, educational training and online learning sessions, medical conferencing and business settings that require discussion of complex subject matter.
Telephone Interpreter or Video Interpreter Services (VRI)?
Whatever your circumstances, we can offer remote interpreter support thoughtfully tailored to match the requirement. Telephone interpreter support is useful for short meetings and telephone calls that involve low participant numbers, who do not need to see one another or share visual content. This option also provides an effective solution for situations where no interpreter is locally available for the required language and event time.
Video remote interpreting (VRI) can be extremely useful for face to face conversation across geographical boundaries and for important business meetings and training sessions, with multiple participants and where the visual content needs to be shared.
What is Consecutive Interpreting?
Consecutive interpreters speak after the source-language speaker has spoken. The speaker will pause in order to allow the interpreter to communicate the message in the target language. The length of time between pauses will vary, but an idea or sentence should always be presented in full before the interpreter takes over to communicate that in the target language. You will therefore need to consider that the time taken to complete the desired bi-lingual interpreting will be approximately double that for single language dialogue.
What is Simultaneous Interpreting?
Simultaneous interpreters, also referred to as conference interpreters, orally translate into the target language at the same time as the source language is being spoken. In other words, the simultaneous interpreter will transfer the message from one language into another in real time with no pause or delay.
Simultaneous interpreters are the preference for conference interpreting and for focus group interpreting assignments. Conference interpreters also provide remote support for high-level meetings between chief executives, social and union representatives, boardroom meetings, congresses, and so on.
Due to the extreme level of concentration required for simultaneous interpreting, for engagements of more than 30 minutes, interpreters work in pairs, relaying each other at short intervals. This allows one interpreter to rest while the other interpreter takes over, without a break in the flow of communication.
Australian Multilingual also provides the technology that is required for high end remote simultaneous interpreting support. Ask us for a comprehensive quotation for interpreting and equipment for your next event.
