Considerations:

Demographic – Mandarin or Cantonese voice over artist

Mandarin is the most commonly spoken language in Mainland China and Taiwan, whereas Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong and areas of South East China. Chinese Mandarin is the official language of the Peoples Republic of China.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2016 census, Mandarin is the second most commonly spoken language in Australian after English. Cantonese is the fourth most commonly spoken language in Australia. There are approximately half the number of Cantonese speakers in Australia compared to Mandarin.

What is the desired tone of the recording? Do you require a male or female Chinese voice over artist?

It is important to consider the required tone of the recording, for example do you require a formal business voice, a young upbeat voice, a calming voice? Will you require a female of male voice?

Script Translation

The script must be translated in advance of the recording session. This not only allows the Chinese voice over artist to rehearse in advance of the recording session but also allows for a professional translation process. Australian Multilingual provides professional translation into both Simplified and Traditional Chinese Script. The script translation process is the most important stage in providing a professional Chinese voice over. You can have the most talented voice over artist recording in a top flight studio, however, if the script has been poorly translated, the former becomes irrelevant. A translated script should not only convey the intended narrative style but it should also avoid literal translation. In other words a translated script should not read as a translation but as a script originally created in the target language.

Australian Multilinguals has established a strong reputation for delivering Chinese translation service in Australia. Many of our primary Mandarin and Cantonese translators have been working with us for over a decade and are held in high regard within the industry. Our clients include the Office of the Prime Minister, Sir Richard Branson, AusPost, General Motors, Aecom etc., to name but a few.

Proofreading of script

We also provide proofreading services. If you have already translated your script, we recommend that we provide a proofreading of the translation prior to commencing the voice over. This is a very cost effective process which ensures that the end product conveys the intended meaning and is free of translation errors.

Syncing the Chinese voice over recording to your existing English language video

If you have already produced an English version of the video, it is essential that you provide time coding (start and finish times for each sentence) within the script. The voice over artist will then ensure that the Chinese recording does not extend beyond the time code boundaries

You are welcome to contact us on 1300 308 983 or via email at [email protected] to discuss your requirements.
